With the announcement that Sections 2-4 Petaling Jaya has now been placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), I will be supplying food baskets to the area.

My office has been working along with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat to prepare food baskets for distribution to those in the area.

Since yesterday, my team has prepared 1,200 baskets that will be distributed starting today by JKM. Door to door distribution has already began, including for migrants and refugees.

I urge all Old Town, PJ residents under the affected EMCO area to remain calm and follow the instructions set by the authorities. Importantly, it is for you and your family to stay at home and be safe.

Cooperation with the authorities is important so as to prevent the further spread of Covid-19 in the area which has now reached 26 cases.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank UNHCR, Dr Munawwar from Imaret, Yayasan Sin Chew, Venerable Jue Cheng Chief Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Buddist Temple, Yayasan Hasanah and Journey for their generous contribution of essential food baskets for the residents. They have been amazing as they responded in less that 24 hours.

Thank you also to all our volunteers who came within two hours to help us to pack the items to reach out to families. They include Rela, JKM, EPIC, Datin Wong from Childline, Mr Kok and Rukun Tetangga PJ Old Town.

A big thank you to KKM, the police, MBPJ, JKM, RELA, the Army and all frontliners for carrying out their work so professionally.

For any assistance for food or medical, my office can be contacted at 01111403861
as we are working closely with JKM and MBPJ.
